Everyone has their own ideas and expectations about sex and relationships based on early experience and deeply held beliefs. They are not always easy to express and we cannot expect others to know our needs if they remain unspoken. Disappointment, resentment, guilt and even self-doubt creep in when we feel dissatisfied and misunderstood. Psychosexual therapy helps to gain a full picture of the issues involved and the impact upon you and those close to you, and aims to bring about positive change.
Claire trained and worked at the internationally-renowned Tavistock Relationships Centre in London, which is a centre of excellence for psychotherapy and counselling for all sex and relationship difficulties. She now works within the NHS Psychosexual service, the Mancroft Advice Project for young people and runs private psychotherapy clinics in Norwich, Cambridge and Saffron Walden.
Claire works at Rowan House on a Thursday offering a warm, professional, confidential and non-judgmental environment in which to express and explore your thoughts and emotions, address problems and achieve self-development and greater harmony.
The sessions together will be your time to focus on you, to gain insight, make discoveries about yourself, reflect on what inhibits your happiness and consider fresh ways to approach this central part of life.
There will be an initial assessment lasting 90 minutes following which you will meet to discuss whether you would like to proceed with regular weekly or fortnightly one-hour appointments. The process of therapy is adapted to suit you and your needs, whether coming as an individual or couple; some sessions may be more structured, others free flowing. The number of meetings required will be reviewed and agreed as therapy evolves, enabling you to acknowledge developments and integrate progress.
