I am a qualified hypnobirthing teacher, having achieved a Diploma in hypnobirthing from the internationally renowned Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing Association. I teach private and group classes to expectant mothers and their birth partners all over Norfolk.
I am originally from Worcestershire but made Norfolk my home in 2011. I have three children, one of whom is a hypno-baby! I have always had a passion for all things birth and pregnancy related. I decided to train as a hypnobirthing teacher after experiencing first hand the difference that hypnobirthing can make to a family’s birth experience. My older two children were born in rather a traumatic and adrenalin-fuelled manner, and it took me a long time to come to terms with the way their births had played out. I found it difficult to bond with my children and had a very real feeling of sadness and trauma for quite some time after they were born.
I decided that I would not allow history to repeat itself when expecting my third baby and took a hypnobirthing course along with my partner. The arrival of my daughter was an entirely different experience – it was warm, calm, relaxed and beautiful. I didn’t have the home birth I had hoped for, I had a caesarean for medical reasons but because of the knowledge I had obtained on the course I knew that I had made the right choices for myself and for my baby and I felt in control and happy throughout. My baby was born in a wave of radiance and love and the whole experience was incredible.
Whilst on maternity leave I decided it was time to follow my true calling and embark on a career where I can support pregnant women and their partners in preparation for the arrival of their baby. I left my role as a conveyancing executive at a local solicitors firm and haven’t looked back.
I am passionate about birth, about female empowerment, about the importance of informed antenatal care and consent. I know the difference a positive birth can make to a family, to how mother, father and baby bond, to establishing breastfeeding, to the initial experiences of baby in its first moments ‘on the outside’, to a mother’s postnatal state of mind and to many other moments that have a huge influence of the rest of family life. I fully believe every mother and baby have the right of a positive birth experience and would very much welcome the opportunity to help you achieve it.
