Amy hopes her classes will resume at Rowan House Centre on Saturday 5th September 2020.
I’m a kiwi born and bred but have lived in the UK for fifteen years now, five of those in Norwich. I have worked in the fitness industry for over 18 years and love to cross train doing running, swimming, cycling mixed with strength work in the gym.
After turning forty and having had two wonderful children my fitness goals changed. After years of aches and pains from pushing my body to its limits I was searching for an activity that had a healing aspect to it. This is where my journey into yoga began and since then yoga has become part of everyday living. It’s true that yoga really does begin when you step off the mat back into life. Initially I was unaware this was going to be a totally different kind of physical and mental challenge to what I had ever experienced before. I was inspired!
I proudly completed my teacher training with Sun Power Yoga and have been awarded two 200hr teacher training diplomas through Sun Power Yoga and YMCA Yoga Fitness. I was fortunate to be taught by world renowned Yogi and author Anne-Marie Newland herself. The style of Sun Power Yoga is a blend of subtle mind and breath work of Sivananda and the technique and alignment taught in Iyengar, complemented by the flow, grace and heat of Astanga Vinyasa Yoga. Sun Power Yoga teachers are skilled in assisting students to safely achieve movements and poses through detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology. This yoga education complemented my extensive experience as a qualified personal trainer and aerobics instructor.
Subsequently this knowledge of the fitness industry enables me to deliver yoga classes that are fun, energising and engaging.
I truly believe that “Yoga is for everybody and anybody can do yoga”. My aspiration is to give as many people as possible the chance to try yoga and experience the powerful impact it can have on all aspects of your life.
Yoga is my passion and I would love to share it with you.
