Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the standard type of massage offered at a lot of clinics and spas, it’s a gentle style of massage that’s ideal if you want a relaxing treatment and is a great introduction if you are new to massage. Therapists use a combination of long, gliding strokes to soothe and faster movements to warm and ease tension in the muscles.

Your massage therapist will typically begin with broad soothing strokes and then transition to specific strokes to address the treatment goals discussed in your consultation.

There are five basic strokes in Swedish massage therapy:

Effleurage: long soothing strokes Petrissage: deeper strokes, rolling, and ‘lifting’

Friction: kneading, wringing and small circular movements

Tapotement: movements known as hacking and cupping

Vibration: rocking and shaking movements

Swedish massage is deeply relaxing and can help with a number of physical and psychological conditions, it helps to soothe the nerves and relax the muscles and mind.

Treatments typically last 30-90 minutes.

This depends entirely on you and your treatment goals.
