Project Description
Psychotherapy
Solution focused Counselling & Therapy
A therapist with a solution focused approach helps the client move towards their goal by using effective and powerful questioning and specific interventions which allow the client to imagine and create a different and preferred future. The therapist helps the client to use existing strengths and resources and experience different ways of thinking and behaving that are consistent with what the client wants to achieve. The key to change is not to dwell and get stuck in past negative experiences but to give insight and imagination to what life could be like if their goals were met. The client is an active part of the change process and is given exercises and tasks so they can experience life in a different way. Techniques and interventions are used from a number of different approaches including:
- Neurolinguistic Programming
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Mindfulness
- Positive Psychology
- Hypnotherapy and trance
The focus is on what is working and can work rather then what isn’t and can’t.
A whole range of issues can be supported including:
- Worry, Anxiety and Stress
- Low mood and depression
- Confidence and Self Esteem
- Trauma
- Fears and Phobias
- Unhelpful beliefs, thoughts, behaviours and habits.
