Project Description

MSK Rehabilitation

MSK Rehabilitation

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Rehabilitation is a multi-disciplinary approach to treat injuries involving the musculoskeletal system. The goal is to help people of all ages to recover, maintain and prevent injury and to regain normal pain-free mobility.

MSK Rehabilitation combines the use of hands-on techniques with exercise to achieve the return to full, pain-free mobility goal. Common techniques include massage, joint and spinal mobilisation, functional movement, and exercise. Other techniques such as electrotherapy and hydrotherapy can also be used if deemed necessary.

MSK practitioners can help with a wide spectrum of injuries whether they are acute or chronic. They specialise in diagnosing, assessing, and treating trauma injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Common injuries include but are not limited to:

    • Tendonitis/tendinosis
    • Muscle strains
    • Joint sprains
    • Bone fracture recovery
    • Lower back pain
    • Neck pain
    • Ligament strains
    • Limited movement
    • Tennis/Golfers Elbow
    • Meniscal/Labral tears
    • Muscular cramps

All injuries will start with an initial consultation where the injury or condition is fully assessed and diagnosed with some initial treatment given. Following sessions will then be treatment-based using a combination of skills that will look to improve your condition efficiently and effectively. Home-based exercises are commonly given to continue recovery outside of the treatment room.

In most instances an initial consultation and follow up is required along with a corrective exercise programme. However, some cases require more regular attention and could require multiple visits across a number of weeks or months. The treatment plan will be outlined by the practitioner at the initial consultation either way and can be altered as the case progresses. Ultimately the amount of sessions will be determined by the progression from injury to optimal health.
