Family Homeopathy

Family Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a holistic therapeutic system. Homeopaths use specially prepared remedies, given mainly in tablet or liquid form. As homeopathic medicines use only minute amounts of active ingredients in their preparation they are suitable for cases involving babies, children, pregnancy and breast-feeding mothers. Prescriptions are tailored to each individual patient, according to their specific symptoms, taking into account all the symptoms together. For example, if during your pregnancy you were suffering from morning sickness, backache, pelvic pain and itchy skin, instead of giving separate courses of treatment for each symptom, a homeopath will consider all symptoms together as a whole (whether physical, mental or emotional), possibly addressing them with a single prescription.

In order to find a homeopathic remedy that matches you and your symptoms as precisely as possible, a homeopath needs to get a thorough understanding of the exact symptoms you are experiencing. During a confidential, in-depth consultation, your homeopath will consider all aspects of your health and well-being including your past medical history, diet, lifestyle, personality type and current health problems.

This usually takes at least an hour.

Follow up appointments are used to monitor how you are responding to the remedy and whether further remedies are required.

Women seek homeopathic support for a variety of problems during the post-natal period, both for physical symptoms, such as sore nipples or post delivery soreness, and emotional symptoms such as anger or tearfulness associated with the baby blues.

Post-natal depression however is a more serious condition and treatment options should be discussed carefully with your health visitor, doctor and homeopath.

Parents contact homeopaths for a wide variety of childhood conditions including teething problems, colic, acute and first aid situations such as coughs and colds, cuts, stings and bruises as well as more ongoing, chronic complaints.
