UKCP – Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

Julie Field

Julie Trained with the University of Middlesex to qualify as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.  She is registered with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and abides by their code of ethics.  Julie takes regular supervision and is dedicated to continual professional development.

Julie is currently working as a therapist at Newmarket House Clinic – a residential clinic for the treatment of adult eating disorders in Norwich.  Alongside this, she runs a busy private practice and works with a corporate Employee Assistance Programme.  Julie has previously worked for volunteer charities, walk-in units and also undertook a forensic counselling position working with inmates for 2 years in Wayland Prison.

Julie offers and integrative approach to her work.  Integrative therapists take the view that there is no single approach that can treat each client is all situations.  Each person needs to be considered as a whole and techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.  Her work, however, is very often drawn from the following techniques though there are many others available.  The most important aspect for Julie is the relationship between Counsellor and Client.

  • Psychoanalytical
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Attachment
  • Mindfulness
  • Transactional Analysis

Julie welcomes enquiries from individuals and couples and assures you a confidential, non-judgemental and safe environment for you to explore your thoughts on whether it is possible to take action for change or maybe to find an acceptance in the fact that some things may remain difficult.

‘Life is difficult.  This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths.  It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it.  Once we truly know life is difficult- once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer difficult.  Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters’.
