National Golf Month

Seeing as the sun has now begun to shine for longer than 5 minutes per day it seems approriate that the month of May see’s the launch of “National Golf Month”.

National Golf Month or NGM is an initiative driven by the British Golf Industry Association (BGIA) with the aim of getting people to try golf for first time, get back into golf, or improve their existing golf game.

Clubs and coaches across the country are looking to entice new and existing people of all ages into golf from young children to pensioners. Not a bad initiative considering you can walk up to 10km in an average golf game, or consideralby more if your golf is as good as mine!!

For those of you who have played golf or indeed any sport before I’m sure you’ll appreciate just how much success is dependent on your own state of mind? Many leading sports physiologists believe to be successful at sport you should focus your efforts on 20% physical and 80% mental capabilities.

Golf is an exceptionally technical sport that relies less on physical abilities and more on your mental focus and confidence.

Those of you who have played before will know only too well that one poor shot at the beginning can affect the way you play the whole round, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Hypnotherapy can help you locate and fine tune your mental capabilities.

It can help to improve your focus, consistency and confidence, turning you into a better golfer which in turn helps you to relax and enjoy your golf game. Whilst most of you won’t become the next Tiger Woods it’s worth noting that he’s been utilizing hypnosis since his early teens to help release anxiety, quieten the mind and focus.

So how does it work?

There are many different techniques that can be used within a hypnotherapy session one of them is visualisation.

Whilst in hypnosis the brain has difficulty distinguishing what is and isn’t reality so visualising hitting the perfect drive down the centre of the fairway on the 1st tee can help train you mind ready for success. If we mentally practice what we like to happen it’s more likely to actually turn into reality.

One final note, it’s prudent to point out out that many 18 hole golf courses can take in excess of 4 hours to complete so suitable sun protection including hats and sunblock should always be applied.

National Golf Month officially launches on the 27th April 2016. More information can be found at www.Nationalgolfmonth.com
